Monday, March 16th, 2009

The Barbara Hardy Centre was launched at UniSA's Bradley Forum on Monday 16th of March, 2009. The event was attended by over 150 researchers and industry representatives.

The night was hosted by Simon Royal from ABC's Stateline, and included a conversation with Barbara Hardy, two panel discussions on sustainability, and an address by Centre Director, Chris Daniels. Video recordings of each section are available below in mp4 video format.

Alan Branch

Alan Branch is a partner at Donaldson Walsh Lawyers. He is a commercial lawyer with national and international experience in sustainable development projects.

Barry Brook

Professor Barry Brook, the Sir Hubert Wilkins Chair of Climate Change at Adelaide University, is an international research leader in global ecology and Earth systems modelling. He has published two authored books and over 140 scientific papers.

Peter Høj

Professor Peter Høj commenced as Vice Chancellor and President of UniSA in 2007. He was formerly CEO of the Australian Research Council, and Managing Director of the Australian Wine Research Institute.

Kelvin Trimper

Kelvin Trimper is Director, Education & Community Development, Delfin Lend Lease. He has the responsibility of ensuring the approaches adopted by the company have a strong sustainability factor.

Jay Weatherill

Jay Weatherill is a lawyer with an economics degree. He was elected as the Member for Cheltenham in 2002. He now holds a number of ministerial portfolios, including that of Environment and Conservation.

Allan Holmes

Allan Holmes is Chief Executive of the South Australian Department for Environment and Heritage. He was previously the Director of National Parks and Wildlife from 1994 to 2000.

Caroline McMillen

Professor Caroline McMillen is UniSA’s Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research and Innovation. She has an international reputation as a biomedical researcher and is a member of the Premier’s Climate Change Council.

Marc Shannon

Marc Shannon is the Manager of UniSA Northern Adelaide Partnerships. His role is to facilitate partnerships that will make a meaningful difference to the education, health, wellbeing and workforce participation of people in northern Adelaide.

Yvonne Sneddon

Yvonne Sneddon is a professional company director and Presiding Member of the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges NRM Board. She was a partner at accountancy firm Deloitte until 2004 and is a specialist in sustainability reporting.

Dick Thomson

Dick Thomson has held directorships of public companies and government business enterprises. He has significant experience in solar thermal systems. He is Chair of the Barbara Hardy Centre Advisory Board.
