Private pilot licence (PPL)
There are no pre-requisites for a private pilot licence. This course comprises of a minimum of 40 hours flying in a single
engine aircraft. The first 10-20 hours are with an instructor.
This flight training would also accompany home studies from the Trevor Thom Private Pilot Licence course theory books. Instructors will also be available for extra tutoring with the manuals if need be.
At approximately 10-20 hours of flight training, a student should be ready for solo flying (without an instructor), but before this can be undertaken, a Class 2 medical from a recognized Civil Aviation Safety Authority recognised examiner is compulsory.
Further training is then required until the appropriate phase for private pilot licence is completed. Please note that 40 hours is the minimum hours expected, with some students it may take a little longer, and the cost for the private pilot licence is costed by watch hour flown.
Approximate total cost for a 40 hour private pilot licence is $9,422.00 (GST inclusive).
This cost includes:
all flying and landing fees
