Indigenous/Cultural Awareness Workshop
The Cultural Awareness workshop provides an opportunity for participants to develop skills and knowledge relevant to working with Aboriginal people in varied locations and environments. It also promotes more effective ways for medical students, health professionals, organisations and agencies working within health to initiate contacts with individuals, communities and organisations to develop and enhance programs, research activities and collaborative activities.
The cultural awareness workshops expose the relationship between ill health, direct causative and underlying factors. It shows that, cultural locality; social and economic factors need to be acknowledged and are non-negotiable in understanding the health of Aboriginal people. The workshop is delivered in a non-confrontational environment and encourage participant involvement.
This workshop is offered free to delegates attending the AUCEA Conference. Registration prior to the day is essential. To register your attendance please email auceaconference@unisa.edu.au
