Philosophy
and histories and theories in architecture are
significant research areas in the Architecture
program. Staff members have
nationally recognised research interests and publication
records.
The discipline regularly hosts innovative symposia and seminars on how architecture represents a unique mode of thinking. Topics range from speculative discussion on architecture's key functions - to design, draw, build - to how architecture seeks to embody and represent a world greater than itself.
Critical thinking within Architecture and Interior Architecture has a strong foundation within undergraduate programs through core history and theory courses - cultural studies, theories of modernity, and philosophy, ethics and aesthetics.
