Construction in the workshop and on site, especially in remote
locations for local and Indigenous
communities, is the trademark of the
Architecture study program
in the School of Art, Architecture and Design.
A significant aspect of Architecture's teaching and consultancy program revolves around community based design-and-construct projects. Community consultation, design development, documentation, fabrication and on-site construction are often part of the teaching curriculum, undertaken by students under supervision.
Projects are also interdisciplinary - Architecture students and staff work with other schools such as Education and Communication. Architecture staff in the School of Art, Architecture and Design have won state and national awards for their strong commitment to architecture as both a practical and academic discipline.
