Research degrees
Research degree students undertaking study for these awards engage in an intensive individual program of research under the guidance of an experienced supervisor with the research expertise in a specific area. Supervision is available for projects in all studio specialisation areas, as well in areas of contemporary art history, theory and criticism.
The school has an active visiting scholars and artist program and a dynamic studio culture, in which all candidates are encouraged to participate.

Independent supervised studio research project resulting in submission of a
thesis in the form of
a) coherent and resolved body of artefacts (artworks) and an exegesis of no
less than 10,000 words providing a critical context for the studio work
OR
b) Full written thesis of around 60,000 words.

2 year full-time program or part-time equivalent.

of a thesis in the form of

Independent supervised studio research project resulting in submission of a
thesis in the form of
a) a coherent and resolved body of works developed for final submission and
public exhibition and making a significant contribution to the field of
research. An exegesis of no less than 20,000 words providing a critical
context for the studio investigation.
OR
b) Full written thesis of around words 100,000 words.
