Patjarr community arts centre, Gibson desert, WATeaching Research Consultancy

Architecture at the Louis Laybourne Smith School of Architecture and Design integrates undergraduate teaching practice with academic research and professional consultancy. Innovative work done in the making of, and thinking about, architecture creatively influences both our teaching and research program. Many of the research projects of the staff within Architecture have grown out of the creativity of the discipline curriculum. The Program is taught by staff the majority of whom are practicing architects or with significant practice experience. Many of the teaching staff are respected researchers in the fields such as philosophy, history and theory, ecologically sustainable design, and design education. The Program undertakes professional and research consultancies. A number of key consultancies involve undergraduate and postgraduate students, and integrated into the teaching program, bringing invaluable professional experience into the curriculum.
