In community on-site (Patjarr project)In community, on-site

Construction in the workshop and on site, especially in remote locations for local and indigenous communities is the trademark of the Architecture Program. A significant aspect of Architecture’s teaching and consultancy program revolves around community based design-and-construct projects. In many cases, community consultation, design development, documentation, fabrication and on-site construction are part of the teaching curriculum and therefore undertaken by students under supervision from staff members. Projects are also interdisciplinary whereby the Architecture Program works with other schools such as Education and Communication. Staff within the discipline have won State and National awards for the work done in this field, projects that have directly emerged from a strong commitment to an ethic of architecture being both a practical and academic discipline.
