Contemporary architectural history research: Dickson & Platten

Site photo - Robert Dickson and Newell PlattenAn ongoing project is research into the Adelaide architectural firm of Dickson & Platten, (1958 – 1973), who donated almost their entire collection of architectural drawings and documentation to the Archive in 2002. Dickson & Platten were the subject of the inaugural seminar in the Royal Australia Institute of Architects (RAIA), Plan drawing - Robert Dickson and Newell PlattenSA Branch 'Conversation + Exhibition' series in August 2003. The conversation, which attracted a full house at the RAIA premises, was led by Rachel Hurst, Senior Lecturer in Architecture. It focussed on the design philosophies and principles underpinning the works of Robert Dickson and Newell Platten and was accompanied by an exhibition of drawings, photographs and ephemera from the collection held by the Archive.
