Khai Liew | Furniture Designer | Provoke
A master of exquisitely crafted contemporary furniture, Liew is passionate about materials and the handmade. Drawing on his own cultural
heritage and informed by a number of historical influences, especially twentieth-century Scandinavian design and the rugged practicality of
utilitarian objects made by early Australian settlers, Liew occupies a unique place in contemporary Australian furniture design. Liew’s
works have appeared in national and international exhibitions such as ‘Freestyle: new Australian design for living’ (2006-2008), next due to open in Milan in May 2008, and ‘Collect: the international art fair for contemporary objects’ (2006) at
London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. His pieces are represented in private and public collections.
