Design of a grape press for analysing the quality of grape juice
This study relates to the design of a grape press which aims to
produce a discrete sample for the purpose of analysing the quality of
grape juice. A prototype construction already exists however the speed
of operation of this prototype is not satisfactory to the company who
requested construction.
The aim of my study is thus to redesign a part of the press (a new
plunger, associated frame and operational components) keeping part of
the existing frame and tray of the current prototype. The study will
determine the size of the cylinders and their stroke, the shape of the
plunger and all parts permitting the movement of the plunger over the
tray, along with additional frame work to carry and support the
cylinders during operation. Calculations will be required to determine
strength of materials chosen and the operational characteristics of the
pneumatic cylinders.
