What is Mechanical Engineering?
First of all it is not just about cars. Whilst virtually everything about cars involves Mechanical Engineering, the automotive industry is but one of many exciting and challenging areas a mechanical engineer will work in.
To answer the question Mechanical Engineering is all about the application of maths to physics at its theoretical base. Most people when they look at those highlighted words see maths or physics. Graduate Mechanical Engineers, many of whom have chosen their career path and are working in it before they graduate, see only one word application.
That is really what it is all about: design, machines, processes, systems that make and do so many things.
