A life long interest in engineering, with previous trade qualifications and an associate diploma led me to the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering program. As a mature age student I found UniSAs ability to recognise and build on the 20 years of educational and industrial experience that I already had, an important factor in choosing to study there. The program flexibility, which allowed me to commence my study while continuing to work full time, provided for an easy transition to full time study when I elected to do so in my final years.
My industry project gave me the opportunity to apply the skills I learnt during my degree in a practical real world situation. It brought together a wide range of the concepts covered in the course and gave me experience in dealing with a customer and subcontractors, meeting deadlines and applying the analytical and creative skills I have developed to come up with a practical solution to an engineering problem.
The academic, industrial and social facilities at the Mawson Lakes campus, combined with the dedicated and professional attitude of the staff at UniSA made for an easier and more rewarding learning experience and was an import factor in the success of my studies.

I chose UniSA because of the more practical nature of the degree and the links with industry that the school had. I feel that the structure of the degree is more suited to students who want to graduate with the experience and ability to move confidently to the workforce.
AME employs teaching staff from both academic and industrial backgrounds. This variety of experience and background is of benefit to the students as they begin to choose which direction they may go in.
The projects that I have undertaken through UniSA and the significant work experience that I have had, has made me much more confident in my ability as a professional engineer.

All teaching staff in Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering have been very supportive, helpful, encouraging and friendly. When we first arrived in Adelaide, they made us feel comfortable and at home. They are great mentors to us and have been giving sound advice.
Even after we have graduated, the teaching staff are still supportive and helpful to us when we have queries.
During my studies I did participate in work experience and industry project. In the middle of my industry project with a plastics company in Adelaide, they actually offered me a job before my graduation!

One reason I chose to study at UniSA was its innovative teaching methods, which rely on practical, hands-on activities. UniSAs close links with industry and its efforts to focus the program content on what employers want was also important to me.
Work experience provided me with an opportunity to prove that I will perform well in my chosen career. Through work experience I have gained a clear picture of where I want to go in my career and feel absolutely positive that I am on the right track.

I participated in work experience over the summer period of 2004 with Connell Mott MacDonald. Work experience provided a good opportunity to gain experience in the work force and to gain a further understanding of what was expected. It also provided a good opportunity for the employer to assess my potential as an employee and this ultimately led to my employment with Connell Mott MacDonald.

The chance to design and build in a maths-related area made me decide to choose engineering.
If you enjoy, and are good at, maths and physics and are able to think logically, a career in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering could be for you.

The two years I spent at the University of South Australia completing my Masters of Engineering was a rewarding part of my life. The programme provided me with vital knowledge which has enabled me to build upon my current abilities and has refined my skills as an engineer. I found the courses to be well structured and presented by highly qualified staff members. Everyone at UniSA was helpful, welcoming, and hospitable.
I graduated from UniSA in 2005, and am currently employed as a Graduate Reliability Engineer with Zinifex Limited at Century Mine, North West Queensland which is the second largest Zinc Mine in world. As a graduate I have had the opportunity to be involved in various projects including having the responsibility for the ongoing plant reliability and asset management.
I have also been involved in several on and off-site training programs aimed at reducing maintenance cost and improving productivity & reliability of the plant. This has given me experience working and living at a mine site and it has allowed me to strengthen my communication and project management skills.
The most rewarding part of my profession has been seeing my ideas valued and implemented in different projects, and I strongly believe the education I have gained in India and at UniSA has played a major part in shaping my career.

The program content has made me choose UniSA. As well as the quiet and serene atmosphere of the city of Adelaide has been another reason to choose UniSA.
UniSAs teaching staff have been very cooperative and helpful.

The teaching method is the best experience I had at UniSA. It is the most appropriate way to teach a postgrad student, by making him think on his own and not providing ready solutions.
I chose UniSA because of the course contents and reputation. And the fact that city of Adelaide and its suburbs has a perfect environment for studying. Its a perfect destination for a student.

The degree I am doing is very well suited to today's requirements to the technology and it will benefit
to my future. Every course in the program provided good support materials and text books. The intention of the school and UniSA is not just pass and get the degree but explore and get the real knowledge out of it.

This B.Eng challenges the class to bring the academic aspect into our own working realm. With the appreciation of knowledge it becomes another level of challenge to convince our own managers for right actions.

I not only acquired valuable knowledge but also made many great friends during my studies and still keep in touch with them after my graduation. Whats more, the sound friendships have assisted me in developing business collaborations with some of my classmates.

The program helped me in grasping the most updated knowledge. It has allowed me to think in a different way to solve the problems - with efficiency rather than old time-consuming methods. And also, the connections with other classmates give me the chance to learn from others and to share knowledge together. Moreover, the ideas from professors gave me the motivation to think of starting my own business.

I have learned a great deal of quite practical knowledge in the program and it allowed me to apply it in my current work which has helped me to determine the most effective way to solve the problems.

It is obvious that the employees who have studied the program have developed more innovative methods to resolve the problems in their work.
Also, the friendships that were formed during the classes and remain help them to support each other when in need after they come back to their working field.
In addition, many high level managers who studied the program think the knowledge delivered in the class is quite useful and practical in the real world and have recommended their employees join the program as well.
