Welcome from Head of School
The School of Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering offers high quality teaching and applied research in the areas of mechanical engineering, advanced manufacturing, nanotechnology, mechatronics, sustainable energy developments, manufacturing management, logistics and supply chain management, and energy management.
Professional recognition of our programs enables graduates to be fully accredited by Australian and overseas professional institutions. This wide recognition means that graduates can readily work throughout Australia and in a number of overseas countries without reassessment of their qualifications.
High achieving students are rewarded with prizes and awards sponsored by industry partners, and scholarships are available in all undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs. The School has an excellent reputation both nationally and internationally with extensive collaborative research projects. Strong linkages with industry ensure the relevance of program content and assist engineering students in gaining industrial experience throughout the duration of their study.
The School currently has four categories of programs:
- For prospective undergraduate applicants, programs are offered with specialisations in mechanical engineering, advanced manufacturing, mechatronics, nanotechnology, and sustainable systems. The specialised final year projects link students to industries where they gain exposure to professional practice as well as future employment opportunities.
- For prospective postgraduate applicants, programs are offered with streams in logistics and supply chain management, advanced manufacturing technology, manufacturing management, and energy management.
- Transnational degrees provided via Kaplan are available to students in Singapore at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- For prospective research students, the School offers Master by research and PhD programs which incorporate research projects related to sustainable energy, manufacturing, industrial engineering, and global logistics. The School hosts Research Centres and collaborates with Research Institutes which conduct research and undertake industrial consultancy activities by using comprehensive teaching and research laboratories.
The School has established a long-standing association with external organisations and past students and each year annual events are organised to foster these relationships. Our Advisory Boards consists of senior academic staff from the university, industrial partners, related associations, and the Australian Government, which ensures the quality and relevance of our teaching and research.
