Industry experience

The School's undergraduate programs are accredited by Engineers Australia and it is a professional requirement that students complete 12 weeks (60 working days) of industrial experience in a relevant industry prior to graduation. Students can complete this in one period of 12 weeks (ie over the summer vacation), or in multiple periods of several weeks. Aside from completing the program requirements, industry experience means students will put the skills they have learnt during their study into practice. Industry experience also provides benefits such as networking opportunities and the chance to build professional contacts, assisting with decision-making about career pathways, and the possibility of being offered a job prior to graduation.

NB: This process has been implemented for the 2009 academic year. Current students who have completed their industrial experience in previous years should contact the Academic Support Officer for advice regarding sign-off for the industrial experience requirement of their degree.
