Each year the Association presents a prize to the student who undertakes research as part of their coursework which contributes to excellence in practice in early childhood settings. The research must demonstrate originality, must be well-planned and researched and use relevant research methods for the issue under investigation. The researcher must demonstrate professional conduct in carrying out the research and excellence in presentation of the results of the research. The Association invites staff teaching in the Bachelor of Early Childhood Program to nominate meritorious students.
Funds are provided to support early childhood education ventures such as book publishing and purchasing of musical instruments.
The Betty Davis Research Grant is available to staff teaching in early childhood programs within the School of Education, or members of the de Lissa Research Group to promote research in an area related to early childhood education. Invitations for this occasional are made whenever the Association has available funds. It is anticipated that the amount of the grant will usually be in the range of $200-300. The Committee selects the project and the amount to be awarded based on applications forwarded to the Committee for consideration. Applications need not be detailed and can be from individuals or a team of staff. The request can be for part of a project which is already funded (e.g. to enable a computer operator to be employed for a short time) or for an unfunded piece of research. Applications should include the names of the applicants, contact details, the title of the research project, a brief outline of the proposal, a budget and a statement regarding the relevance of the project to early childhood education.
Applications should be forwarded to the Honorary Secretary - Ms Pauline Butler
