Membership

You are encouraged to become a member of the Association and participate in ensuring the future of quality early childhood education. Being a member is also a great way to build a network with other early childhood educators, maintain contacts with the students you have studied with especially through attendance at the annual Graduates' dinner. The annual dinner is a highlight of the year and innovative ideas for fundraising are always welcome! In the future, as our membership base expands, reunions will also be possible. A regular newsletter is also a feature of membership.

Membership is open to:

a) General Membership

i) Graduates of the University of South Australia who have completed a specialist early childhood education degree.

ii) Graduates of the University of South Australia, the major part of whose study was undertaken in early childhood education.

iii) Graduates and diplomates of the University of South Australia, the major part of whose study was undertaken within the de Lissa Institute of Early Childhood and Family Studies.

iv) Graduates and diplomates of the South Australian College of Advanced Education, the major part of whose study was undertaken within the de Lissa Institute of Early Childhood and Family Studies.

v) Graduates of the Kingston College of Advanced Education.

vi) Graduates of the Adelaide Kindergarten Teachers’ College (previously known as the Adelaide Kindergarten Training College).

vii) Graduates and diplomates of Murray Park College of Advanced Education holding the qualification of Bachelor of Education (ECE) or Diploma of Teaching (ECE).

viii) Graduates and diplomates of the Hartley College of Advanced Education holding the qualification of Bachelor of Education (ECE) or Diploma of Teaching (ECE) or the Graduate Diploma in Education (ECE) or the Graduate Diploma in Parent Education and Counselling.

b) Associate Membership shall be open to holders of equivalent early childhood qualifications. Such associate membership shall be by nomination from at least two members of the Association and submitted to the committee for consideration.

c) Life Membership is open to members on payment of an amount to be determined from time to time.

d) Honorary Life Membership is intended to be an exclusive category of membership ‘awarded’, on the recommendation of the Committee and ratified by the membership at an AGM, to persons who have made an outstanding contribution to the field of early childhood in South Australia. Nominees need not be members of the Association. Honorary Life Members are entitled to the same benefits as Life Members.

e) Student Membership is open to students of the University of South Australia currently enrolled in an early childhood education program with the School of Education.

f) Friends of the de Lissa Association of Early Childhood Graduates Inc Individuals who do not qualify for Graduate membership but have an interest in early childhood education and being involved with the Association may apply to become a Friend of the Association. Friends will receive our regular newsletters and are welcome to attend any of our events and activities.
