There is a range of help available if you are experiencing difficulties with your housing.

Services at the University

Accommodation Services
Looking for accommodation?  First examine the range of options linked to this website and then make direct contact with the providers.

Student Guides
During Orientation, U-buddies are available to help students to find a place to live, help with orientation in and around Adelaide and the UniSA campuses, as well as to provide practical assistance to get settled in Adelaide. The U-buddies are on duty at UniSA Welcome Areas at the beginning of each study period.

Contact Learning and Teaching Unit at the University if you are unsure of the location of the Welcome Area on your campus.

Legal Advice Clinic
Confidential, free legal advice available. Contact the clinic for an appointment.

Unilife
Make contact with other UniSA students who share your interests through Unilife clubs.

Free tenancies advice and information for renters, including in languages other than English.

Free and independent information, advice and advocacy for people on low incomes.

Bowden Brompton Housing Service
Free advice, assistance and advocacy for people experiencing housing difficulties.

Free dispute resolution service across the Adelaide metropolitan area, as well as country areas.

Free information service about real estate transactions and processes.

Financial Assistance
Housing SA can help with the bond. Make an appointment to see them and complete an application form. Housing SA will consider your circumstances, including how long you plan to be in South Australia, and may cover your bond. Housing SA may also provide assistance with the first one week's rent.  Phone Housing SA: 131299 or view details of the Private Rental Assistance Program online.
Housing SA also administers a Student Housing Program for eligible tertiary students.

Rent Assistance is available to people receiving some Centrelink payments. Contact your local Centrelink office. A handy budget planner is available on the Understanding Money website.

Trace-a-Place and Service to Youth Council
Practical advice and assistance to homeless people under the age of 25 years. Referrals to emergency accommodation, shelters and other supported accommodation options. Share accommodation matching service, tenancy advice and advocacy for private rental issues are also available. Visit the Trace-a-Place website for more details.

Family Accommodation Information and Referral Service (FAIRS)
FAIRS assists families who are homeless or are facing imminent homelessness.

Migrant Women's Support and Accommodation Service
Provides emergency accommodation and help for migrant women and children escaping domestic violence. Ph: +61 8 8346 9417

Emergency Housing
Here you will find a number of organisations which assist with emergency housing and advice.

Crisis Care
Overnight emergency service for people at risk. Telephone counselling, crisis assessment and referrals to longer term support agencies. Ph: 131 611
