The workshop aims to increase awareness of what it is like to live with a mental illness by providing participants the opportunity to experience the world of a psychiatric disability through an evidenced based simulated learning experience of hearing voices that are distressing. These activities include performing regular daily tasks providing participants with a better understanding of the challenges people with psychiatric disabilities face, how to increase empathy and compassion in care.

Participants will also gain knowledge to promote community health by being able to understand and relate more effectively with people who experience distressing voices. The workshop is suitable for all health professionals, Mental Health Consumers and Carers, students from health sciences, psychology and social work, and nursing
