Diploma in Science and Technology


The Diploma in Science and Technology is a two year program providing a pathway into built environment, construction management, economics, engineering, environmental science, geospatial science, information strategy and management, information technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, internaional studies, legal studies, property, science and software engineering degrees at the University of South Australia.

Who is it for? 

Diploma programs are designed primarily for people who do not have the qulifications required to get directly into a degree at UniSA.

Program length 2 years (or part-time equivalent)
Prerequisites or assumed knowledge      None
STAT entry 139 or higher
TAFE/RTO entry Complete an award from a registered training organisation at Cert 3 or Cert 4 level.
Note: Applicants who have completed a TAFE/VET award at Diploma level or above, or who have studied at higher education level for more than two years will not be considered for admission to the program.

Locations Metropolitan campuses (SATAC code 426021)

Upon successful completion of the Diploma you will be guaranteed entry into a degree at UniSA. If you continue with one of the linked degrees you will also be granted a year of credit (allowing you to progress directly to second year).

There are also packaged programs available for students who would like to progress specifically to Bachelor of Information Technology.

We suggest you preference Foundation Studies at UniSA College as your backup option for this program.

  • everything you need to succeed when you progress to your degree.

Diploma Stage 2

  • start studying first-year courses from your linked bachelor degree
  • sit in the same lectures and tutorials as other first-year bachelor degree students
  • be able to come back to UniSA College for additional support

Upon successful completion you will graduate with a university diploma qualification. Following this, you will continue seamlessly into the second year of your linked degree (with up to 8 course credits).
