The Celebrating Cultural Diversity program aims to support our first year international student’s pre-service teachers to experience success in their professional experience placements. The program includes four on-campus workshops designed to facilitate support networks between the domestic and international pre-service teachers, provide knowledge about the Australian educational context, and to hear the experiences of international pre-service teachers who have studied successfully at UniSA. The key component of the CCD program is that international pre-service teachers are given the unique opportunity for site visits in children’s centres, kindergartens, primary schools or secondary schools, depending on the specialisation in which the international pre-service teachers are enrolled. Such site visits, over four weeks, will allow them to see an Australian educational setting first-hand, and to learn from teachers, staff and children about what is expected of them before they undertake their formal and assessed professional experience placements.
