A reputation for strong engagement with industry encouraged Abhishek Shaw to choose UniSA. After completing his degree (and working in the University’s Division of Business, as a Student Engagement Officer) Abhishek was selected by one of the big four accounting firms for a graduate position.
What are the benefits of UniSA and their teaching staff?
“One of the best things about the Master of Business Accountancy is that you build a sense of responsibility and take charge of your own life. The program pushes you out of your comfort zone to perform well and at the same time provides you with the required support needed to be successful. There are also a lot of University supported opportunities to develop as a professional.
The Orientation was good because we got to know about Campus Central and the Learning and Teaching Unit, where support and help are offered to students, however most importantly I was introduced to some very useful sessions on careers, visa regulations, accommodation, library and referencing. It was during Orientation that I met other new students who I became good friends with. During the last year of my degree I attended numerous workshops and events held by the University with regards to career development. I also received a lot of advice from the career advisors in the Division of Business.”
What is your advice to others?
“I would suggest you take every chance to improve your spoken and written English, attend the workshops on career preparation offered by UniSA and learn how to network professionally.”
