PhD Program in Choice Modelling: Antecedent Volition

The Institute for Choice is seeking applicants interested in pursuing a PhD in choice modelling (see below for specific topic area of interest to this announcement). This will be a 3- to 4-year doctoral program conforming to the general requirements of the University of South Australia and further exigencies imposed by the Institute for Choice. Candidates should be aware that formal graduate-level foundational and specialist coursework will be required. The Institute has a strong research environment and is deeply committed to world-class research performance. It is expected that the individual selected for this program will be highly competitive in the academic job market after completing this program. Standard funding stipend for Australian citizens may be available, depending upon candidate qualifications.

The particular research stream for which this candidate will be evaluated aims to develop and test new behavioral and econometric models of choice based on the assumption that individuals adopt “how to decide” (or antecedent volition) strategies when choosing between alternatives. The position is funded by an Australian Research Council Discovery grant to Joffre Swait and A. Marley.

Interested candidates should send a CV to I4cphdprogram@unisa.edu.au plus contacts for 2 references, and a personal statement of research interests around the grant theme.
