Our research

The Centre for Peace and Security has been and is engaged in a number of notable research projects and activities. These include:

  • Sixth Annual World Summit on Mediation with Age-Related Issues, 29 April – 1 May 2013, hosted by the centre in partnership with the Elder Mediation International Network
  • The Sixth Annual Asia-Pacific Mediation Forum (APMF) Summit will be held in Manila, 9–11 December 2013. Centre member and Adjunct Associate Professor Dale Bagshaw is president of APMF and will host the summit.
  • Literacy in Fiji project, funded by AusAID
  • Women, Peace and Security in AusAID Partner Countries, funded by AusAID
  • Children and Families in Transition, in partnership with Centacare (Adelaide)
  • Domestic violence research projects for Department of Human Services and Partnerships Against Domestic Violence, Commonwealth Office of the Status of Women
  • Older-Person-Centred Mediation Project with the Alzheimer's Association (SA) Inc
  • AusAid PASST project with the University of Melbourne and RMIT working with Filipino leaders
  • Ongoing research projects in the area of conflict, violence and bullying in schools
  • Research and consultancies with children in conflict situations, eg children's rights and family law, and children and domestic violence
  • Ongoing research and consultancies in the area of early intervention and prevention, conflict management, negotiation, conciliation and mediation
  • The International Drama and Conflict (DRACON) project, with researchers from Griffith University, Gothenburg University and Universiti Sains Malaysia. The DRACON International team co-authored a 2004 research monograph with major contributions to five of the eight chapters.
