Dr Peter Pudney, Senior Research Fellow at the School of Information Technology and Mathematical Sciences, wrote an article for The Conversation on electric cars titled ‘Will electricity save the car?’.

In the article, Dr Pudney looks into the debate on whether cars will continue to play an important in role shaping life in the 21st century. Dr Pudney refers to a paper recently published by the Energy Supply Association of Australia (ESAA) entitled Sparking an Electric Vehicle Debate in Australia that provides a detailed summary of the benefits of electric vehicles and the barriers to their adoption. Dr Pudney presents an alternative view to the debate by looking into whether the advantages of electric cars outweigh their disadvantages, why consumers are still hesitant to buy them and what lies beyond the car.
