The Centre for Applied Financial Studies (CAFS) is a new research concentration at the School of Commerce, UniSA Business School, established in October 2010.
CAFS is led by Professor Petko Kalev and has over thirty members amongst which is distinguished Professor Mervyn Lewis. Adjunct research members include prominent Finance scholars and practitioners Professor Alex Frino, Professor in Finance at The University of Sydney and the CEO of Capital Markets CRC; Professor Robert Elliott, ARC Australian Professorial Fellow (University of Adelaide) an Adjunct Professor UniSA; Dr Kingsley Jones the CEO of Jevons Global and; Eben van Wyk, Head of Research at the Royal Bank of Scotland. CAFS has more than five full time PhD students.
CAFS members benefit from research initiatives such as the Empirical Research Collaborators Program, Crafting Quality Research Workshop Series, Brown Bag Finance Workshops and Finance Research Day as well as from the expertise of visiting Finance scholars. Each year, CAFS brings together academic and industry researchers during its annual Behavioural Finance and Capital Markets Conference.
One of the most important partnerships of CAFS is with the Capital Markets CRC. This partnership facilitates research collaborations and enables PhD students to work in the Finance industry as part of their research program.
