Enterprise data and information are increasingly recognised as among the most valuable, if not the most valuable proprietary resources that organisations possess. A lot of intellectual property is locked in enterprise data repositories. The value of this asset needs to be unlocked for the organisation to make better decisions and gain competitive advantage. We are moving into the era of ‘big’ data and as large volumes of diverse data pour into enterprises, we face increasing challenges in managing and maximising the potential of this asset.
The mission of this research group is twofold: firstly to advance knowledge of how information can be managed more effectively; and secondly to investigate how more value can be extracted from enterprise information to enhance organisational performance and have a positive economic impact for the nation and society.
