The annual Festival of Innovation was held at the Mawson Lakes campus on 13 September 2012, attracting over 600 visitors. The event is a showcase of the programs, research and student work that goes on at the Division of Information Technology, Engineering and the Environment (ITEE). The theme for this year was ‘How can you use technological innovation to reduce your carbon footprint?’.
A competition based on the theme was held, where high schools students presented their ‘Idea Brief’ along with a poster, model or invention to show how their ideas worked. Entries were displayed in an exhibition at the festival where visitors voted for the winning entry.
Apart from the competition, prospective students and visitors were able to visit booths of all ITEE programs, attend information sessions, go on tours of the facilities, view student project and research displays, and enjoy music and free food and drinks.
