ECH is seeking compassionate students wanting to make a real and positive contribution to the lives of older South Australians by assisting them to live a purposeful life.
ECH is a profit-for-purpose, non-faith-based, diversity embracing aged care enterprise which stands for ‘Enabling Confidence at Home’.
ECH promotes self-determination and independence for older South Australians to enable them to remain living at home and to have the best life possible as they age.
Benefitting more than 15,000 South Australians, ECH offers allied health services, exercise programmes, respite centres, social and community programmes, and independent living units across 100 villages. ECH also provides a wide range of ‘at-home’ services such as gardening, housekeeping, transport assistance and other supporting services to help people remain living independently and confidently in their own home for longer.
ECH understands that people need to be active, feel engaged and have confidence in themselves and their environment to live in a meaningful and purposeful way. Promoting the development of social relationships and participation in stimulating and productive activities are ways to achieve this vital engagement.
Students would join ECH staff and volunteers in a range of community-based projects, assisting with research and supporting core ECH services. The aim of the activities and programmes are to enhance each person’s engagement with life including those suffering from cognitive decline. Activities could include gardening, arts and crafts, gentle exercise, music and dancing.
