The School of Information Technology & Mathematical Sciences was formed in 2013 as a merger of the School of Computer and Information Science, the largest information and communications technology provider in South Australia, and the School of Mathematics and Statistics, regarded as one of the leading applied mathematics departments in Australia.

Our future-focused programs in computer science, information systems, mathematics and statistics encourage students to create, innovate and develop solutions to solve many real-world issues affecting organisations in every industry from science and engineering to business.

The School also provides excellent opportunities for collaborative research and engagement with industry and the community through a number of research centres and institutes. We run or have close links with state-of-the-art research facilities such as the Advanced Computing Research Centre,  Centre for Industrial and Applied MathematicsPhenomics and Bioinformatics Research Centre, Ian Wark Institute and Barbara Hardy Institute, which provides a dynamic, multi-disciplinary teaching and research base for our students. 

Our faculty are also regularly engaged in consulting to organisations in areas that include information technology, environmental modelling, scheduling and statistics, thus ensuring our links with industry and practical teaching approach.
