Video conferencing enables people to have a meeting without the expense or time of travel. With video conferencing you get to see the person you talking to unlike audio conferencing and can see the visual cues as they are talking, much in the same way as being in the room with them. Video conferencing can also let you send content to the far end (a computer screen / a video or DVD / a document camera) much the same as you would be able to if you were in the room.
