Creative and body-based Learning (CBL) utilises active and arts-based approaches to engage students in academic, affective and aesthetic learning across all areas of the curriculum. In collaboration with the University of Texas, DECD and Carclew, the University of South Australia is presently conducting a CBL professional learning program for teachers as well as research that investigates its impact on the working practices of teachers and mathematical outcomes for students.
Due to popular demand, a portion of the CBL professional learning program will be made available to other interested teachers, school leaders, academics and teaching artists. Led by Assistant Professor Katie Dawson the 2017 CBL Summer Intensive will provide a hands-on exploration of creative and body-based strategies to activate classroom curriculum; to deepen and personalise student learning; and, to build collaborative classroom communities for the year ahead.
