The Socially Sustainable Health Research Centre (SSHRC) is a University recognised and funded Research Centre of excellence.  Research programs of the centre include:-

• Care of the Older Person
• Social View of Health
• Health Workforce Matters
• Care for People living with Chronic Conditions
• Men's Health and Health Promotion

Vision

To develop and maintain a level of excellence in research into nursing and health care that is recognised both nationally and internationally as equal to world best practice

Objectives

• To contribute to the ongoing improvement of the health status of the community through research activities
• To target research which addresses national needs (and where relevant international needs) within the priority area of Health
• To promote scholarship and encourage debate by conveying research findings and activities through books, journals, conferences, seminar programs and exchange programs
• To consult consumers and seek direction in the development of consumer driven research
• To form alliances with industry, community groups, business and the
  professions to inform the provision of quality health care
• To provide a focus of research expertise and supervisory experience for postgraduate research students
