Welcome from the Managing Director

Malcolm RaedelMalcolm Raedel

CELUSA, the Centre for English Language in the University of South Australia, is committed to Educating Professionals, Applying Knowledge, and Serving the Community (the mission of the University of South Australia), through the delivery of English language programs at home and abroad. As part of this commitment, CELUSA maintains administration for the monthly and bi-monthly IELTS tests in South Australia, and continues to be the only Testing Centre for IELTS and TOEFL in South Australia.

CELUSA is the exclusive provider of the University Entrance Certificate –the English language and academic skills preparation program that offers an alternative English language pathway and conditional direct entry into undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the University of South Australia.

CELUSA is also a specialist provider of programs in General Intensive English, and English for Academic Purposes. CELUSA is proud to offer, in conjunction with the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of South Australia, English for Health Professionals as part of the Australian Registered Nurse Training Program for overseas registered nurses.

As English increasingly becomes the language of Business and Commerce, Science and Technology, Tourism, Communications and the Arts, CELUSA is focussed on preparing students for a life of learning, cultural enrichment, and professional success.

We welcome you to our website and look forward to the prospect of making a contribution to the achievement of your personal goals, through the learning and teaching of English, as a medium for communication.

With best wishes,
Yours sincerely,

Malcolm Raedel
Managing Director

Welcome from the Director of Studies

Kathy CouttsKathy Coutts

While International Education plays an important role in the global interaction of countries and economies today, international students are the key to increased understanding of individuals living their everyday lives in societies across the globe. The opportunity to integrate students from a diversity of countries into CELUSA classes and programs, and to witness their progress over a short study vacation, or a longer period at CELUSA, makes this education institution a very special place.

CELUSA is fortunate to have a highly-qualified and international staff deliver a range of English language programs using innovative, yet systematic, methodology. CELUSA follows adult learning principles and allows students the independence of learning and the freedom to discuss and listen in a tolerant environment.

As a University English language centre, CELUSA caters for the serious English language learner, and believes positive results will be the outcome. CELUSA is unusual in offering two, quite different academic preparation programs to students planning to progress further in their studies. As each program allows for the particular needs of different students, CELUSA academic and support staff assist students in deciding which is the pathway option most appropriate to them.

As the IELTS Testing Centre for South Australia, CELUSA strives to provide every opportunity for its students and potential permanent residents to do well in their language tests so that they can achieve their goals with the assistance of an internationally recognised language certificate.

I join with the Executive Director and the CELUSA staff in inviting you to consider CELUSA as your English language study pathway.

Sincerely,

Kathy Coutts
