On the evening of April 13th the School of Marketing hosted the Alumni event, 'How Brands Grow', in the Allan Scott Auditorium. Professor Byron Sharp, Director of the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute and Bruce McColl, Global Chief Marketing Staff Officer at MARS, presented the science and secrets behind growing brands and how these can be utilized in marketing and the business sector.
The night was an enormous success with over 150 Alumni, key industry people and postgraduate students in attendance. Both speakers were captivating and used real life experiences to share their knowledge.
Professor Sharp focused on bridging the gap between the ideals of the past and actual fact, referring to the latest research from the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute.
Bruce McColl discussed how MARS implement the Institute's research to drive their business and provided practical examples of how they have grown their brands. He also shared some fascinating stories about his personal successes and failures in marketing and how he overcame his mistakes.
The event received excellent feedback from all that attended, especially regarding the interest and relevance of the information presented.
The School of Marketing is focused on providing its students with opportunities to enhance their knowledge and pursue life long learning. Associate Professor Jenni Romaniuk will present "Word-of-Mouth marketing, social networking and the internet" in June as part of UniSA's Knowledge Works public lecture series.
