Vice Chancellor International Alumni Leadership Award

This award recognises the leadership qualities of our graduates and supporters of the university.

Awarded to those who show the leadership qualities that UniSA has instilled. Leadership, through the personal commitment of, time and energy and volunteerism over many years. Our leaders provide our students and graduates with the opportunity to secure professional positions with industry internships, placements or mentoring to advance their career outcomes.

The award also recognises the individual’s contribution to the Philanthropic goals of the university.

Awarded for the first time in 2017 and presented during the International Alumni Chapter reunions in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Singapore – Andrew Chen FUniSA

Andrew Chen


Andrew was awarded the Singapore, Vice Chancellor International Alumni Leadership Award in July 2017, for his devotion to education and his support of the next generation of future leaders.

Andrew was founder and Chief Executive of the Asia Pacific Management Institute in Singapore from 1989 to 2006. The Institute was an international program partner of UniSA for 15 years from 1991 to 2006.

In 2006 the University made Andrew a fellow of UniSA as a special acknowledgement of his contribution to education on an international scale.

Andrew with his wife is now supporting the next generation of future leaders through the establishment the Graham Arnold Travel Grant and the Graham Arnold Prize. These awards support the exceptional UniSA School of Business PhD students attain their academic aspirations and provides the opportunity to attend either the Academy of Management Conference or the Academy of International Business Conference in the United States.

Malaysia – Ir Yeong Chee Meng FUniSA

Mr Yeong was awarded the Malaysian Vice Chancellor International Alumni Leadership Award in July 2017 during the UniSA Malaysian Alumni Chapter Reunion Dinner for his extraordinary contribution to our alumni in Malaysia and the University.

As a past Vice President and President of the Malaysian Alumni Chapter he was an active, outstanding member of the committee encouraging Malaysian alumni to stay connected with the chapter and the university. Mr Yeong is still giving back to the alumni community as the chapter’s patron and as a mentor to members of the committee.

He was made a Fellow of the University of South Australia in 2006 for his services to engineering and to the Alumni Association of Malaysia.

Mr Yeong is currently head of the Don Sahong Hydropower Project at Mega First Corporation, a Director of Don Sahong Power in Kuala Lumpur, and a generous donor to the University of South Australia.

Hong Kong – Dr Edward Lam

Dr Lam was awarded the Hong Kong Vice Chancellor International Alumni Leadership Award in November 2017 during the UniSA Hong Kong Alumni Chapter 20th Anniversary Reunion Dinner. Recognising his contribution to the development of UniSA Hong Kong Alumni Chapter and MBA Club and his foresight in supporting future leaders through his community work as the District Commissioner of Scout Association of Hong Kong and as President of the Hong Kong SME Federation.

Dr Edward Lam is a Foundation President of the UniSA MBA Club in Hong Kong established in 2002 and was President of Hong Kong Chapter 2008 - 2014. Dr Lam has contributed significantly to the development of UniSA Hong Kong Alumni Chapter and as the President he led a strong team of executive members to grow the Chapter’s membership during his term.

Edward is still an active member of the alumni community and is currently serving as the Vice President of the Hong Kong Alumni Chapter.

Dr Lam is now the CEO of Delicron, a leading brand for menswear in Hong Kong and China.
