Singapore Seminar with Prof Rachel Gibson, 21 March 2018
Alumni joined a Seminar by Professor Rachel Gibson, Dean: Academic in the Division of Health Sciences, at Kaplan Singapore Wilkie Edge Campus. Prof Gibson spoke about her research on the toxic effects of chemotherapy on the gut of cancer patients which may to the development of intervention agents to prevent or treat chemotherapy-induced toxicity.
Singapore Alumni Reunion Dinner, Saturday 29 July, Carlton Hotel Singapore
Alumni and special guests joined the President: Singapore Alumni Chapter, Lawrence Lim, Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research and Innovation, Professor Tanya Monro, Chancellor, Jim McDowell, and members of senior management at the University of South Australia's Singapore Alumni Reunion Dinner held at the Carlton Hotel Singapore on July 29.
Guests enjoyed a memorable evening with great food and entertainment in the company of fellow alums. Official guests joining the Deputy Vice Chancellor and Chancellor were His Excellency Bruce Gosper, University fellow Dr Chew Kia Ngee FUniSA and Mrs Gek Chew, Strike Petroleum founder Andrew Wong and Singapore Alumni Chapter committee members. The University had the opportunity to thank outgoing Singapore Alumni Chapter Vice President, Terence Ng, for all he has done for the chapter over the past 8 years in his roles of Vice President, Treasurer and committee member. Former Chapter President Sherina Ng also attended.
The University of South Australia Singapore Alumni Chapter Annual General Meeting was held prior to the dinner, where the 2017/18 committee was announced.
UniSA 25th Birthday Singapore Alumni Dinner
Alumni and special guests joined the Vice Chancellor and President, Professor David Lloyd, Chancellor, Jim McDowell, and members of senior management at the University of South Australia's 25th Birthday dinners held in Asia recently.
The Singaporean dinner was held on 16 July at the W Hotel on Sentosa Island and guests enjoyed a glittering Lion Dance and a tango floor show. Official guests joining the Vice Chancellor and Chancellor were Tracy Harris, Trade Commissioner to Singapore, and University fellow Dr Chew Kia Ngee FUniSA and Mrs Gek Chew. Sherina Ng, who has stepped down as president of the Singapore Alumni Chapter, was joined by the incoming president, Lawrence Lim, and committee members. Former Chapter Presidents Desmond Tan, Richard Quek and Donald Aw attended.
The University of South Australia Singapore Alumni Chapter Annual General Meeting was held prior to the dinner, where the committee announced the election of new Chapter President Lawrence Lim. The University had the opportunity to thank outgoing President Sherina Ng at the dinner for her tireless committment and contribution to the Singapore Alumni Chapter as President and committee member over the last 10 years.

Singapore alumni attended a seminar on the 20th of May presented by renowned numerology expert Mr Peter Koh. Mr Koh talked about how numbers can improve our performance at work and our odds of success in love and everything we do.
Kwong Wai Shui Hospital visit
UniSA Singapore alumni spent an afternoon with the elderly residents at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital on the 12th of March, participating in sing-a-longs and table games and enjoying a snack with the residents.
Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH) was founded in 1910 by a group of Cantonese merchants and is one of Singapore’s oldest charitable healthcare institutions, providing health care services to the needy in Singapore regardless of race, language or religion.
UniSA Alumni Singapore Quiz Night
UniSA Singapore alumni and guests took up the challenge to win the best team award at a quiz night held at Suntec City Mall on Wednesday, 2 December. There were lucky draw and other prizes throughout the night.
All attendees had a great time, especially the winning team (pictured right).
Australian Alumni Singapore Award for Singapore Chapter
UniSA’s Singapore Alumni Chapter had a lot to celebrate at the Australian Alumni Singapore Gala Dinner held at the Shangri La Hotel in Singapore on 7 November.
UniSA’s Singapore Chapter was joint winner of the Outstanding Australian University Alumni Association Award with the University of Melbourne. The Australian Alumni Singapore (AAS) is the national umbrella organisation for Singaporean graduates of Australian universities.
UniSA Chancellor Dr Ian Gould AM gave his congratulations to the chapter and says the award is fitting recognition for a lot of sustained commitment.
Singapore Chapter President Sherina Ng says winning the award was an honour for the chapter which was officially established in 2009.
Celebrating South Australia's relationship with Singapore
President of the Republic of Singapore, Dr Tony Tan, was guest of honour at a gala dinner in Singapore on 17 August hosted by The Hon Jay Weatherill, Premier of South Australia, and the Vice Chancellors of University of South Australia, Flinders University and The University of Adelaide. The dinner was held in celebration of Singapore's 50th anniversary of Independence and the 50 year relationship between South Australia and Singapore.
Among the guests from the University of South Australia were Vice Chancellor Professor David Lloyd, Chancellor Dr Ian Gould AM, and Deputy Vice Chancellor: International and Advancement, Nigel Relph, together with distinguished Singaporean alumni of UniSA.
2015 Singapore Alumni Reunion dinner
Vice Chancellor and President, Professor David Lloyd, and Chancellor, Dr Ian Gould AM were among hundreds of special guests, alumni and members of senior management who attended the University of South Australia alumni reunion on Wednesday 24 June at the Park Royal Hotel on Beach Road, Singapore.
More than 135 guests, including Chapter president Ms Sherina Ng and the committee, and past presidents Dr Mike Teng, Mr Donald Aw and Mr Richard Quek attended the dinner. Official guests joining the Vice Chancellor and Chancellor were Ms Tracy Harris, Australian Trade Commissioner Singapore, University fellow Dr Chew Kia Ngee FUniSA and Mr Mark Coggins, CEO of M2 Academy.

Singapore Alumni Reunion
Vice Chancellor and President, Professor David Lloyd, and Chancellor, Dr Ian Gould AM were among hundreds of special guests, alumni and members of senior management who attended the University of South Australia alumni reunion on Wednesday 9 July at the Orchard Hotel, Singapore.
More than 200 guests, including past Chapter presidents Dr Mike Teng, Mr Donald Aw and Mr Richard Quek attended the dinner. Official guests joining the Vice Chancellor and Chancellor were Mr Christopher Rees, Consul General and Senior Trade Commissioner, Australian Trade Commission Singapore, Ms Tracy Harris, and Trade Commissioner, University fellow Dr Chew Kia Ngee FUniSA.
It was a big week in Singapore for UniSA, with the launch of a new suite of degree programs offered in partnership with the M2 Academy at a new purpose-built campus in the heart of the Orchard Road shopping district. The Singapore Orchard Gateway Campus was launched officially on July 8 by South Australian Minister for Employment Higher Education and Skills, Gail Gago, and Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner to Singapore, Julie Heckscher.
High Commissioner hosts Celebration of Australian Alumni in Singapore
On Tuesday 20 May, the UniSA Singapore Alumni Chapter Committee attended an Australian alumni reception hosted by Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency Philip Green,
in conjunction with Australian Alumni Singapore.
The celebration marked the visit to Singapore by Australian Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Senator The Hon. Brett Mason.
Alumni Bowling Event in Singapore on 7 December
University of South Australia alumni were joined by alumni from Monash, Melbourne, Curtin universities at the inaugural Singapore alumni bowling event on 7 December. Ice Tan and his Team UniSA 3 emerged as the winner with a total score 1405 pinfalls.
Bukit Brown Cemetery Heritage Bush Walk
Singapore alumni enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and sights of Bukit Brown Heritage Park, while getting to know fellow alumni, on the Bukit Brown Cemetery Heritage Bush Walk on Saturday, 3 August.
2013 Singapore Alumni Reunion Dinner
More than 150 alumni and guests attended the annual reunion of the University of South Australia Alumni Association Singapore on 2 July at the Grand Hyatt Singapore. Alumni had the chance to meet UniSA's Vice Chancellor and President, Professor David Lloyd, as well as renewing old acquaintances. It was also an opportunity to welcome new Chapter President Sherina Ng, and to celebrate former President ErDr Mike Teng's contribution to the Singapore Chapter.

2012 Singapore Alumni Reunion Dinner
Over 150 alumni and guests attended the annual reunion of the University of South Australia Singapore Alumni Chapter on Wednesday, 4 July.
The event was hosted by University of South Australia Chancellor, Dr Ian Gould AM and Vice Chancellor and President, Professor Peter Høj, with additional senior University staff in attendance.
Professor Høj said the presentation of awards and alumni reunions are important events and allow the University to celebrate our graduates' success with them.
"It is also extremely rewarding to meet with our alumni and hear of their professional journeys and achievements and experiences".
One of the evening highlights was Dr Kia Ngee Chew FUniSA and Mrs Chew being presented with their Chancellor's Club exclusive membership in recognition of their generous support for the University's fundraising activities.

Singapore Alumni Southern Ridges Walk
Sunday 11 March 2012
University of South Australia alumni of all ages gathered at Hort Park for the Singapore Chapter's Southern Ridges Walk, held on a sunny Sunday morning, 11 March 2012.
Twenty-two members and their families and friends joined the 2 hour walk, taking in the Alexandra Arch followed by the Forest Walk. This elevated forest walkway, with heights ranging from 3 to 18 metres, was a first time experience for some.
Walkers trekked up the 60 degree slope to reach the Terrace Garden, which offers a 360 degree view of Singapore. They then proceeded along the Hilltop Walk to the Henderson Waves, Singapore's highest pedestrian bridge connecting Mount Faber and Telok Blangah Hill. See more pictures on Facebook.
